STAR Camp

Production Staff

John C. Barthelmes (Artistic Director/Acting Teacher)
This is John's fifth year directing STAR Camp. He can also be found producing and directing Summer Stage Performing Arts Camp in Victor, Gananda Community Youth Theatre, Gananda Middle School, Spotlight Theatre Arts, Greece Olympia High School, Greece Arcadia Middle School, Wayne Middle School, Gates Community Theatre and Roberts Wesleyan College-Community Theatre. John is a regular performer with the award winning Nuts and Bolts Comedy Improv Troupe, Joey and Maria's Comedy Wedding, and has been the Artistic Director for Gates Community Theatre for the past few years (and loves every second of everything he does).

During the day John is a Computer Science and Acting teacher at St. John Fisher College. He also manages three cats. John's goals with STAR Camp are to give children an opportunity to learn about theatre and about themselves, work hard to improve their skills and talents, and encourage them to perform to the best of their ability! Oh, he also expects them to have a ton of fun doing it!

Megan Beck (Art Director/Art Teacher)
This will be Megan's seventh year at S.T.A.R. Camp. She has a Bachelors degree in Art Education and a Masters degree in Art Education. During the school year Megan works the Gates Recreation Dept. GAP program. She also works for the Town of Gates as an arts and crafts instructor and is the stage manager for the Gates Community Theater. She is looking forward to working with the cast and staff of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jr." this summer.
Jessica Stevens (Vocal Director/Music Teacher)
Jessica thrilled to be working with STAR Camp for her second year. She is currently pursuing her degree in Music Education at Nazareth College studying voice and piano. Jessica has vocal directed for Port of Call Community Players and co-directed the senior female a cappella group at Gates Chili High School, where she was also the recipient of the National School Choral Award. At Nazareth she is also a member of the female a cappella group Call4Backup. Recently, she choreographed Godspell for Greece Arcadia High School and 42nd Street for Gates Chili High School, where she was a 2007 graduate. Miss Stevens currently teaches dance at American Dance Academy, where she received dance training for 15 years. She also teaches private voice and piano lessons year round. Favorite roles include Peggy Sawyer (42nd Street), Anita (West Side Story), Liesl (The Sound of Music), and Ariel (Footloose).
